Will the Fantastic Four Crossover in the 2017 XMen Movie?

Days of Future Present?

Could Fox be combining their Marvel franchises into one film and do the Days of Future Present storyline from the comics?

20th Century Fox hasn’t had that much luck in the superhero movie universe as of late. Fantastic Four (2015) was a major financial and commercial bomb, some say the movie lost upwards of $60 million, interesting when you take into consideration the last movie that Josh Trank, director of Fantastic Four, made for Fox was Chronicle on a $12 million budget and made about $60 million domestic and $60 million international. Overall Trank lost the extra $60 million he made for Fox with this Fantastic Four disaster. Trank tanked.

But Fox ain’t dumb as they have been seem to know what they are doing with the X-Men franchise, which will finish out it’s second trilogy next year with X-Men: Apocalypse and finish out it’s Wolverine trilogy the following year with Hugh Jackman in his final Wolverine performance. And with the retirement of Wolverine, Fox already knows it needs new standalone character X-Men movies which is why they have Deadpool, which looks like it’ll stick to the character’s meta routes, coming out in 2016 and Gambit in 2017 starring Channing Tatum.

But just the other day, November 17th, 2015 to be exact, it was announced Bryan Singer was returning to helm the followup to X-Men: Apocalypse, which would start filming in 2017. Fox then announced they didn’t announce anything and that their are no plans for Singer to start filming the next X-Men movie, as he already has 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea set up at the studio as his next movie.

And then on November 23rd, Fox quietly took Fantastic Four 2 off of it’s schedule for 2017. Now I know filming a movie and the release of a movie are two very different things that happened years apart, but it looks like to me that if X-Men: Episode VI - Apocalypse does well then Singer obviously has dibs on the follow-up that will probably get made sooner rather than later. Fox also seems like they want to keep Fantastic Four in their fold, and what a better way to do that then by adding the Fantastic Four into an X-Men movie.

Before Fantastic Four was released to the largest disappointment a Hollywood blockbuster muster, Aint It Cool News released some speculation that the Day of Future Present storyline may indeed be happening: http://www.aintitcool.com/node/72454

Perhaps the best thing to do may be just have Michael B. Jordan’s Human Torch crossover and leave all the other actors behind. Then reboot Fantastic Four, but keep Jordan, with an all black cast like they should have in 2015. This would be similar to what they did with Wolverine: Episode I - XMen Origins. They pretend it doesn’t exist, yet Ryan Reynolds is staying on to play Deadpool. Afterall Reynolds didn’t write the script for the first Wolverine or Green Lantern or The Proposal.
