How the DC Cinematic Universe Can Differ From the MCU

How the DCEU can differ from MCU.

WB is a director's studio. They have the auteurs and they let them do what they want, let them play in their respective sandboxes and even some Warner properties. Christopher Nolan is the perfect example with his Dark Knight Trilogy and his Warner released films in between, such as Inception, The Prestige and Interstellar. Giving Ben Affleck not only the roll of Batman, but allowing him to direct his own Batman Trilogy is classic WB. Affleck is an auteur, having wrote directed and starred in a Argo for them that won everyone involved the best picture Oscar.

Giving Zack Snyder the unique ability to create not only the first and second films in the DC Extended Universe but arguably more importantly the look and feel of the DC Cinematic Universe. This is really silly, although Snyder and Nolan kept to a much more realistic tone, something slightly more earnest like Batman Begins with a darker, moodier color palette as opposed to the video game pop colors of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Now I love the idea of Jared Leto playing The Joker and feel he's one of the only actors living that could accurately play the role… and Mark Hamill. I'd love to see Hamill play the Joker as a live action Joker. And I love David Ayer, he makes beautiful films that have their own style collectively and it looks like Suicide Squad will move the DC Cinematic Universe into that direction. But I don't love the look of the DC Universe, I think it looks to drab, even with the brighter color palette for Batman v. Superman. I understand that it's supposed to it's supposed to counteract Disney / Marvel. Instead of forever keeling to the drab Dlove to see WB continue to be an auteur’s studio and let a director vastly change the look and style of their DC movie, but keep the same actors to keep continuity. Every DC comic looks stylistically different; went not do this with the movies? This would set DC films apart from the Marvel movies that always look like Kevin Feige’s lucid, wet dreams.
