Paramount Schedule Updated: Terminator 6 and 7 are Terminated
Did you see Terminator 5? I didn't even though I have seen the first four movies and the entire series, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Not really sure why I didn’t see it, perhaps the return of Arnold was not as strong as a sentiment as Paramount thought it would be. Perhaps I didn’t care about going back to the first film’s storyline and instead wanted something completely different, like a Terminator where Arnold goes back to 1881 to the Wild West where he has to destroy Sarah Connor’s great grandfather, which would allow them to cast all new people, yet still keep some sense of continuity that they decided to throw out when they not only recast Sarah Connor with Emilia Clarke in this new film, but also recast John Connor in every single successive sequel to the original.
Regardless Terminator: Episode V - Genysis did not do that well and Paramount has quietly terminated Terminator VI and VII (which they were calling Terminator 2 and 3 for stupid reasons) from their schedule. Although the film gross $440.6 million internationally, which isn’t terrible, it only grossed $90 million stateside, which is pretty terrible for a summer blockbuster. The original May 19, 2017 release date has been given to the Dwayne Johnson Baywatch reboot. And they didn’t even mention they had a Terminator 7 originally scheduled for June 29, 2018 which his quietly been dropped.
Will we ever see the resurrection of creativity in the Terminator universe? Hopefully one day… one day.
