Star Wars: The Poe-Finn Relationship

So I am officially getting on the Poe/Finn Train. Poe and Finn aka Pinn aka Poenn.

In Star Wars they have been known to "bury" the lead on who will be the main love interests in the trilogy. We are spoon feed the first couple that we are supposed to root for. Leia and Luke are the couple we are expecting to see us through the trilogy. Then suddenly they are brother and sister and that sexual tension and kisses are something that we all want to forget about, so I'll focus more on the hugs instead.

In A New Hope, Luke and Leia were the obvious match as a couple; the normal boy turned hero saves the princess. After destroying the Death Star all three leads hug each other, Leia is laughing uncontrollably spinning in Lukes arms and then gives Han a reassuring bro tap on the back.

So immediately when I see Finn putting on his best puppy dog eyes at Rey I knew that is not our trilogy's main couple. That would be the obvious choice. That would be too easy, and we can't have that. And from what we found out in The Force Awakens and what Mark Hamill said recently, Luke is a-sexual. He doesn't care about sex, just saving the stars, man.

And look at Finn, he's clearly set up to be the third wheel in The Force Awakens, but much like how Han was the third wheel in A New Hope.

Then we have to consider that these new batches of movies have been updated to reflect our modern times. This new trilogy is reflecting this current decade (2010s). While the original trilogy reflected the 70s and The Phantom Menace looked like the 90s and Clones and Sith looked like the early 70s, these new films look like now. So why the hell not put a same sex couple in space?

Maybe it's because the only functional couple I know is a gay one. Maybe it's the way Poe looked at Finn and let him keep his jacket. Maybe it was the sheer joy that burst from the two when they were reunited. Disney and Kasdan & Abrams want us to believe the ole Man with a Thousand Faces principal, so if Rey is anything like the lead in the original trilogy, Luke, then I'm sure she's a-sexual and prefers to save the stars instead of macking all over Poe or Finn. Beside, the two of them are too busy being the parade floats at Disneyland on Gay Pride Day.

"Yea, Baby!" Go Finn and Poe!
